This scooter, which claims great performance on a low budget, is infusing new hopes in the electric vehicle market. It seems that River Indie has posed a big challenge to companies like Ola. Let’s know, from A to Z.
River Indie Electric Scooter gets new updates in 2025
Bengaluru-based electric scooter start-up River has updated its first product, Indie, for 2025 with some important changes and two new colors. Along with this, the price has also increased, which has now become ₹ 1.43 lakh. This update has created a new atmosphere of discussion in the industry.
New drive system and added reverse button feature
The River Indie has now changed the final drive system and adopted a chain-drive mechanism. This move makes it different from other electric scooters available in India such as belt-drive, swingarm-mounted motor, or hub motor. Apart from this, a dedicated reverse button has also been added, which has been developed based on customer feedback.
Style changes with two new colors
The Indie is now offered in two new colors gray and white, which make it more attractive. River’s move has been taken keeping in mind the diverse choices of customers. The scooter has already sold 3,000 units and now plans to expand its presence across the country.
Increased price and preparation for new showrooms
The Indie is now priced at ₹ 1.43 lakh, which is ₹ 18,000 more than the price at the time of launch. With this increased price, it is giving direct competition to established brands like TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, and Ola S1 Pro.
Apart from this, River plans to expand its network by opening showrooms in Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Hubli, Kochi, Belgaum, Vellore, Mysore and Uppal. The company aims to establish a network of 25 showrooms by March 2025.
