Tata Motors’ popular hatchback car Tiago has crossed the historic figure of selling 6 lakh units in the Indian market. This car has been performing well in its segment since its launch. According to a report, by November 2024, the sales figure of this car has crossed 6 lakhs.
The special thing is that by October 2024, 5,96,161 units of Tiago had been sold. Tata Tiago was first launched in the Indian market on 6 April 2016.
Popularity increased every year
Tata Tiago garnered a lot of discussion in the first year of its launch. In the financial year 2016, it got 1,096 customers. After this, in the next year 2017, this figure increased to 56,130.
78,829 units were sold in FY 2018, 93,369 units in 2019, and 49,365 units in 2020. However, this number increased to 60,711 in 2021. 58,089 units were sold in FY 2022, 77,399 in 2023, and 50,478 units in 2024. At the same time, as of October 2024, 37,202 units were sold in FY 2025.
Powertrain and Performance
The Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 86bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. Along with this, this car is also available in CNG variants, in which the engine produces 73.5bhp of power and 95Nm of torque.
The car has the option of a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox. In terms of mileage, the petrol manual variant gives a mileage of 20.1 km/l, the petrol automatic 19.43 km/l, the CNG manual 26.49 km/l, and the CNG automatic variant 28.06 km/l.

The interior of the Tiago is very modern and premium. It has features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an 8-speaker sound system, and automatic climate control. In terms of safety, it has dual front airbags, a rear parking sensor, and ABS.
The starting ex-showroom price of the Tata Tiago is Rs 5.65 lakh, which goes up to Rs 8.90 lakh for the top model. In the Indian market, it competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Celerio and WagonR.
