Tata Motors is going to launch its first big electric SUV in 2025 and that is the Harrier EV. The car was showcased in a nearly production-ready avatar at last year’s Auto Expo. The carmaker has confirmed that the new Tata Harrier EV will go on sale by March 2025.

It will compete with the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9e, which is expected to launch in early 2025. The Mahindra XEV 9e will make its official debut on November 26, 2024. Let’s know its features.

Acti.ev platform

The Tata Harrier EV will be based on the Acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech Intelligent Electric Vehicle) architecture, which also underpins the Punch EV and Curvv EV.

The Acti.ev is a pure electric platform. It supports all three drivetrains FWD, RWD, and AWD. The electric SUV has a range of 600 km. Tata EVs based on the Acti.ev platform will have support 11kW AC and up to the 150kW DC fast charging system.

Battery and estimated range

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to have the 60kWh battery pack option and the two electric motors, giving the range of the around 500 km on a single charge option.

Tata has already revealed that the electric SUV will have V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging capabilities. A test mule was spotted with its rear-mounted electric motor, making it likely that it will be offered with an AWD setup.

Design close to the concept

Most of the design elements of the concept will be retained, including the closed-off grille, new front and rear bumpers, coupe-like roofline, and more.

Interior and features

Its interior layout and features will be similar to the ICE-powered Harrier. The Harrier EV will get features like a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, digital instrument cluster, four-spoke steering wheel, wireless phone charging, electronic parking brake with auto hold, stubby gear selector lever, touch-based HVAC panel, 360-degree surround camera.

It will also get safety features like a blind spot monitoring system, panoramic sunroof, and level 2 ADAS suite.

What will be the price

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be priced around ₹ 30 lakh, making it the flagship electric offering from Tata when launched.
