ARAI-certified range 489km of the Nexon EV 45
The name of Nexon EV 45 suggests that it has a 45kWh battery pack compared to 40.5kWh. The company says that the new battery pack has 15% more energy density, so it takes up to the same space as the 40.5kWh unit but weighs slightly more.
Thus, its ARAI-certified range is 489km, which is 24km more than the 40.5kWh unit. Tata says that the real-world C75 cycle range for the Nexon EV 45 is around 350 to 370km. The brand’s C75 cycle is said to represent a near real-world driving the range.
Real-world range of Nexon EV 45
Talking about the real-world range, it achieved an average city efficiency of 7.9km/kWh and an average highway efficiency of 7.67km/kWh.
This resulted in a range of 350 km (city and highway) on a full charge. In comparison, the 40.5kWh version gave a range of 273 km.
This testing was done in eco mode. Where the torque is limited to about 70% of the total output. Its top speed is also limited. Reaction braking was set to Level 2 in the city and Level 1 (least aggressive) on the highway.
With the bigger battery, the updated Nexon EV makes 5hp more. It gets a new panoramic sunroof. Charging time from 10 to 80% has also been reduced to 48 minutes instead of 56 minutes for the 40.5kWh unit.
